Saqqara (also spelled Sakkara or Saccara) is an Egyptian village in the Badrashin district of the Giza Governorate, located approximately 30 km (19 mi) south of modern Cairo. It is best known as the site of an extensive ancient burial ground, serving as the primary necropolis for the ancient capital city of Memphis.
