Torre Manaca Iznaga

Photo
The Torre Manaca Iznaga, built in 1816, stands as the most iconic monument in the Valle de los Ingenios (Valley of the Sugar Mills) near Trinidad. This impressive 45-meter-high tower was originally constructed by Alejo María Iznaga y Borrell, a wealthy landowner, to oversee enslaved workers on the surrounding sugar plantations. Today, the tower is both a historical landmark and a panoramic viewpoint. Visitors can climb its six levels to enjoy breathtaking views of the lush valley, dotted with old haciendas and sugar estates. At the base of the tower, you’ll also find local artisans selling handwoven textiles and crafts, offering a cultural glimpse into Cuban traditions.
