Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion)

Kinkakuji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally built as a shogun’s villa in the 14th century, it was later converted into a Zen Buddhist temple.
