Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion)

Photo

Kinkakuji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally built as a shogun’s villa in the 14th century, it was later converted into a Zen Buddhist temple. Its top two floors are covered in brilliant gold leaf, reflecting beautifully in the surrounding mirror-like pond and gardens. Visitors can stroll through the serene temple grounds, admire the harmony of nature and architecture, and experience the tranquil spirit of Japanese culture.
