Amsaan Accessible Tours Debuts ‘Travel with Bova’ for Global Deaf Travellers

Amsaan Accessible Tours (AAT), a global leader in inclusive tourism for Deaf and hard-of-hearing travelers, has unveiled “Travel with Bova,” a groundbreaking project dedicated to providing guided tours conducted entirely in sign language. This initiative, launched from the UAE, redefines the tourism experience for the Deaf community by offering culturally immersive, barrier-free travel experiences around the world.

Meet Bova: A Pioneer in Deaf-Guided Tours

Central to the initiative is Volodymyr Bozhko, popularly known as Bova, a senior Deaf tour guide with over 15 years of experience. Renowned for his expertise in International Sign Language, Bova has guided tourists from diverse regions, including the USA, China, and CIS countries, across Europe, exotic islands, and Southeast Asia. He specializes in organizing multi-country tours, allowing travelers to experience several destinations in one trip.

Joining him is Dmytro, another seasoned Deaf guide who has visited over 50 countries and brings a deep understanding of Deaf travelers’ unique needs. Together, they aim to create unforgettable, accessible travel experiences.

Breaking Barriers, Fostering Inclusion

“Travel with Bova” is a response to the rising demand for inclusive tourism. With over 430 million people globally living with hearing loss, the initiative addresses the needs of Deaf tourists by offering:

  • Sign Language-Only Tours: Delivered entirely in International Sign Language, ensuring seamless communication.
  • Diverse Destinations: Starting with European countries and Japan, with upcoming tours to the Canary Islands, Madeira, Portugal, Spain, Egypt, Jordan, Bali, and more.
  • Empowering Travel Experiences: Enabling Deaf travelers to explore new cultures independently while fostering connections within the global Deaf community.

A Commitment to Inclusive Tourism

Alex Koltsov, CEO of Amsaan Accessible Tours, emphasizes the broader vision of the project:

“Catering to over 430 million people with hearing loss, ‘Travel with Bova’ sets a new standard in accessible tourism. Last year, over 170 tourists joined our Dubai tours, and we’re seeing growing demand. This initiative not only provides exceptional travel experiences but also bridges gaps between Deaf and hearing communities, promoting mutual understanding.”

Future Expansions

AAT is already working to expand its offerings:

  • Additional Sign Languages: To cater to a wider audience.
  • New Destinations: Including Finland, Thailand, Germany, and Japan.
  • Inclusive Events: The Deaf Festival in Dubai (December 2024) will showcase the UAE’s leadership in inclusive tourism.
  • Accessibility for All: Plans to create tours for individuals with other disabilities, ensuring that everyone can enjoy top-quality travel experiences.

Upcoming Tours

  • Canary Islands (August 2024)
  • Madeira & Azores (September 2024)
  • Portugal & Spain (September 2024)
  • Egypt & Jordan (October–November 2024)

Additional destinations are in the pipeline, based on demand and feedback from the Deaf community.

Empowering a Global Community

Bova shared his excitement about the initiative:

“It’s an honor to lead these tours entirely in sign language, connecting with Deaf travelers worldwide. This initiative provides not just unforgettable memories but also a sense of community and empowerment.”
