What official documents do I need to travel to Tanzania and Zanzibar ?

You will require a passport valid for at least six months after your date of entry.

Citizens of the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and most countries in the EU, need a tourist visa to enter Tanzania. Visa cost is 50 US Dollars and can obtain a visa on arrival at major international airports in Tanzania.

Starting October 1, 2024, all visitors to Zanzibar (excluding residents) must have mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance from Zanzibar Insurance Corporation. This insurance ensures your peace of mind during your stay, offering comprehensive coverage for emergencies such as medical evacuations and repatriation. This insurance is included in the price of the tour and Amsaan Accessible Tours will provide the Policy certificate before the tour will starts.

How safe is it to travel in Tanzania?

Tanzania is a safe country to travel in. Tanzanians are warm-hearted and generous people and are eager to help and assist visitors. As in all countries, a little common sense goes a long way and reasonable precautions should still be taken, such as locking valuables in the hotel safe, do not carry a lot of camera equipment especially in the major cities, do not wear too much jewellery, do not carry large amounts of cash on your person etc.

How safe is the water and food in Tanzania?

It is best to drink bottled water when travelling through Tanzania - numerous brands are widely available and served in all restaurants and lodges. Steer clear of ice, raw vegetables, and salads when eating at street restaurants. High-end lodges and restaurants will clean their produce in antiseptic solution, but to be on the safe side, fruit and vegetables should always be washed and peeled. Try to avoid eating in empty restaurants - the food may have been sitting out for some time - and order your meat well done.

ATMs are widely available in major cities like Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Zanzibar, but you may not find many in more rural areas, so it’s a good idea to carry enough cash with you if you're traveling outside the cities.

What is the best time to visit Tanzania?

The best time to visit Tanzania depends on what you want to do:

June to November is the dry season, making it the ideal time for safaris and visiting national parks.

December to March is also a good time for safaris, with warmer temperatures and the start of the Great Migration in the Serengeti.

April to May is the rainy season, so it’s the least popular time for visitors.

What should I pack for a trip to Tanzania?

Day 1 - Arrival Day
On your arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, you will be picked with our professional driver guide, you will have a shortly briefing of your safari package then after briefing you will drive to Arusha city, from Kilimanjaro airport to Arusha distance is 50 kilometers you will spend 50 minutes of driving while enjoying the view of Mount Kilimanjaro, check in at the hotel then drive to local market

Day 2 - Arusha city Tour
Visit shanga House till lunch time, lunch will be served at coffee lodge(additional cost), after lunch enjoy city tour till evening back to the lodge

Day 3 - Ngorongoro Crater
After Breakfast at your lodge, drive for 3 hours, you will descend early into the Crater floor for game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater. The earlier you descend to the Crater floor so you may descend after breakfast or even with a packed breakfast in order to be at the Crater floor as early as you can and better your chances of seeing the rare animals like Black Rhinos with a little luck. Spend the better part of the morning exploring the Ngorongoro Crater until lunchtime. Ngorongoro Crater with its 600 to 650-meter-high walls is like a natural zoo with the highest concentration of wild animals and it is here where you can even spot the Big Five even in one day if lucky enough. After picnic lunch that you will most likely take at the hippo poolside designated picnic site, proceed with the game drives till evening then you will drive up the Crater rim.

Day 4 - Full day at the Serengeti National Park.
After breakfast transfer to Serengeti, this day you can wake up early for a sunrise game drive to try and catch up with the rare nocturnal animal species as well as the early risers among the diurnal ones. It is a nice time to see animals within a close distance as most game like to line up at the roadsides to escape the morning dew. After bush breakfast at picnic, you will then spend the day doing game drives for the whole day. The name Serengeti comes from a Maasai word ‘Serengeti’ meaning plains without end and true to the name you will explore vast stretches of African Savannah in search of the many animals that Serengeti has to offer. Apart from the wildebeests, you expect to spot other animals including elephants, lions, cheetahs, the elusive leopards, zebras, elands and a lot of resident and migratory birds.

Day 5 - Serengeti – Zanzibar
Begin your day with an early breakfast, departing from the lodge at approximately 10:00 AM, to Seronera Airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar.
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, meet your designated driver and transfer to Stone Town for walking tour of Stone Town on a guided walking tour of Stone Town, discovering its rich history and vibrant culture.
Late in the day transferring to beach hotel for an overnight stay.
