The palace's construction was concluded in 2017. It was inaugurated for public viewing in 2019 by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler of Abu Dhabi and the President of the United Arab Emirates, along with Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Before its public opening, the palace was primarily utilized for official purposes, notably hosting foreign state leaders and supreme council meetings.

The inaugural ceremony took place on 11 March 2019, organized by Mohammed bin Zayed and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. In August of that year, the travel and tourism website Hotel and Rest recognized the palace as one of the top 20 art and cultural monuments globally. Furthermore, in 2020, Qasr Al Watan Presidential Palace received a nomination for the World Travel Awards as the Middle East's leading cultural tourist attraction.
