Cap Malheureux Village

8 Photo

Cap Malheureux crowns the northernmost tip of Mauritius, nestled between Grand Baie and Anse la Raie, where fishing boats bob on a lagoon so clear you can see the reef below.

The village owes its evocative name – “Unlucky Cape” – to the 1810 British landing that ended French rule, a story still retold beside weather-worn cannons.

Don’t miss Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice: the Red Roof Chapel perched above powdery sand with postcard views of Coin de Mire Island, perfect for photos or even a seaside wedding.
